1. Delaney is working with Tagliabue to force ND into a commitment. Rumor is Delaney has said if he gets ND he won’t take any Big East team, supposedly Tagliabue told ND either join as a full member or you are out. Supposedly ND only wanted to go to the Big-10 if they were the only addition so Nebraska could be significant.

2. The Big-10 offered Texas offered only 7 conference games to keep traditional rivals and is prepared to offer A&M as well. Also the 7 conference games was offered to ND as well.

3. Missouri was offered will be invited contingent upon UT accepting. Either ND or Rutgers will fill the final spot in this scenario.

In depth post game stats

Auburn had 40 running plays against Ole Miss not counting sacks
11 of the 40 plays went for zero or negative yardage
So looking at this number we see 27.5% of our rush plays went for zero or negative yards.

Auburn had 29 plays that went for positive yards
So we had 72.5% of our rush plays go for positive yardage.

When we look at the plays that went for positive yards they break down into two categories:

Short yardage plays ranging between 1-5 yards
Big plays that are 8+ yards gained

Auburn had 17 of the short yardage plays ranging from 1-5 yards
Auburn had 12 plays that were large gains of 8+ yards
Of the short yardage plays Auburn’s most consistent number was 2 yards, we had 6 plays of 2 yards. The next most common was 3 yards being gained of which we had 4 plays for this distance.

Of the big plays most of those plays were for 10+ yards, we had 8 of these plays, then two plays for 9 yards and two plays for 8 yards.

So when we break down the positive plays ~59% of our positive plays were for 1-5 yards in our rushing game. This obviously leaves the remaining 41% for big plays of 8+ yards.

While the offense performed very well we still have room for improvement, as hard to believe as that is. You will always have tackles for a loss but it is obvious we do need to work on this some more as nearly 28% of our offensive rushing plays are for zero or negative yards.

Good news is that we should have Onterio back soon at what we hope will be full speed. This will open up our outside running game and help Tate move that most common number of 2 yards to 3 or 4. Also this will help us out on the negative yardage as many of these were from attempts to get to the outside or on slow developing reverse plays. Gus can prevent some of this by using the built in bubble screen he has on his reverse plays to keep the defense from over perusing, Onterio had one of these catches against UT where he was wide open.

Our next big game is against UGA, whose rush defense is ranked one spot higher than Ole Miss.UGA is allowing 3.85 YPC with an average of 137 rushing yards allowed per game so far. It will be interesting to see if the offense with its newly found confidence and the passing game coming back can keep UGA on its heels and start running for 200+ yards per game again. One thing going for Auburn is that it just came off a big win and the offense is showing signs of life again, one bad thing for UGA is they are having a poor season and just came off a crushing defeat at the hands of Florida.

We’ll start off with Alabama vs. Clemson
Coach Bowden at Clemson is one of the most consistent coaches possible; sadly it is that he is consistent in screwing up in big games. I predict Alabama to win a squeaker as Saban sells what is left of his soul for this win.
Alabama 24 Clemson 21

Next on the list is Vanderbilt vs. Miami
Bobby Johnson has an overall win percentage of .286 in his tenure at Vandy so you can obviously see they are a team to be feared under him. Miami hasn’t won an important game in 7 years but they’ll have enough to thump Vanderbilt by 12 points in this game.
Miami 24 Vanderbilt 12

Now we go to the Carolinas where we have N.C. State vs. South Carolina
Tom O’Brien is heading into his second season where he finished a not so bad 5-7. At South Carolina we have Steve Spurrier who is just 21-16 after 3 seasons. After last season’s meltdown on offense coach Spurrier had to spend most of his pay due to multiple visors and clipboards being broken or lost due to them being launched into orbit. I expect South Carolina to come out hard and crush N.C. State 27-10 as Spurrier has decided he can’t afford many more Visors.

Now we move to Hawaii vs. Florida
What in the hell are they thinking? After this Fiasco against Georgia and this game I predict the Hawaiian fans will hunt him down and sacrifice him to some volcano god. No points spread can be high enough to cover this game. Florida who is lead by the superman otherwise known as Tim Tebow will crush Hawaii so badly that Colt Brennan will have flashbacks just hearing the game on the radio and start crying again. Tebow will have gained more yards than the entire Hawaii team.

Florida 244 Hawaii 6
Now we come to Georgia vs. Georgia Southern
Georgia is asking for GSU to drive up to Athens for this game? Even though Southern stole a quarter back from Ohio State doesn’t mean they’ll have much of a chance. The only saving grace for Georgia Southern in this game is that many of Georgia’s players may not be out on bail yet so they will be facing the second string players.

Georgia 38 Southern 17
After crushing Ohio in their bowl game LSU is looking for some real competition and decided to schedule Appalachian State. App State was able to run all over Michigan’s defenders like they were 8 year old girls playing red rover red rover but that won’t happen in this game. LSU’s defense will keep App. State to 14 as Miles will try and not make it a complete blowout
LSU 34 App. State 14

Mississippi State vs. Louisiana Tech
Croom is trying to justify his time at Mississippi State as he tries to make them a relevant team in the SEC. The first time these two teams met Louisiana beat Mississippi but has since only won one of the matchups since. Mississippi State is returning too much talent and that SEC speed, Croom will crush Tech and State fans will claim their right to the SEC championship game after the first game of the season.

Mississippi 27 Louisiana Tech 9
Now we come to Arkansas vs. Western Illinois
This is Petrino’s first year as the head coach of Arkansas and he better be careful with this tough starting game. Nutt may have left Arkansas in shambles and every one of Arkansas’ good players may have left for the NFL or been arrested, but they’ll beat Illinois into a retarded stupor.
Arkansas 37 Illinois 7

Now we come to Auburn vs. LA-Monroe
After seeing LSU and UGA scheduling their tough teams Auburn decided they didn’t want to be left out and quickly added LA-Monroe. Now many will point to LA-Monroe and point out that they beat Alabama worse than Auburn has in the Iron bowl, just ignore that it is not much to be concerned about. Auburn doesn’t have Sara Jessica Parker Wilson as their Quarter back so they’ll easily handle LA Monroe in this game.
Auburn 34 Monroe 7

Now we go to a real game that doesn’t include soft east coast teams it includes a soft west coast team. Tennessee vs. UCLA
Fulmer at Tennessee has all of his players out of jail and has them pissed off as they didn’t win the Fulmer’s cup last year, Alabama stole that trophy from them. UCLA has had so many injuries at quarter back they are starting their 18th string quarter back, who happens to be their marching band leader. UCLA will not be able to hold back the ocean of orange coming their way and will be beaten to a pulp.
Tennessee by 7 in this game

I’ll try and post some of the more relevant games from other conferences in a few days as time permits.

I was reminded tonight of just how crazy things in my life have been. I graduated in 1997 and joined the Army; from there my life has been anything but normal. I was forced out of the Army due to a broken leg and had to readjust to civilian life. It was hard as I really didn’t like life as a civilian the military was a sure thing and out in the world people just seemed not to care. In the military I was part of a family, and we took care of our family. I had tons of friends to hangout with so I was never really bored.

I came back to Dublin and started a job to pay the bills; I had several surgeries along the way to get my leg back right. It was finally fixed, fuck you Dr. Chi for telling me I’d walk again but never run I proved your ass wrong. I decided to go back to college; it was slow going as I was working full time and taking a night class at a time.

The biggest help for me at the time was a great friend Melissa. She came along and got me motivated to give a damn about my college career again. I started dropping my hours at work to the bare minimum to support myself and take more classes. I finally transferred to Georgia Southern in 2001. While there they messed up on my financial aid and told me to take a personal loan to cover things till the cash came in. Well that cash never came and I went into the hole fast as the loan came due and I had nothing to pay it. I was forced to move back to Dublin in 2002, that was one of the worst years of my life. My Grandmother died in March, one of the few people in my family who really supported me instead of supporting a rivalry between me and my cousins that everyone brought up at every opportunity. I was practically bankrupt at that time and was forced to drop college for the rest of the year. The worst blow came from me making one of the stupidest mistakes of my life; I gave up the love of my life Edee. She and I had been dating for nearly 3 years and it was time for us to take it to the next level, marriage, and we both got cold feet and decided to take a break. We never got back together in any meaningful way after this.

Well in 2003 I started back into college and taking a few classes while working full time. It was rough; I had to drive 40 minutes back and forth to where my classes were held. I was taking physics class at the time under a man who taught at MIT, I made an A but I had no life. I was so focused on getting things back on track that I never really tried to do much else.

Well in 2004 I moved back to Statesboro and to Georgia Southern, this time I wasn’t dependent on financial aid to cover my way. The first year was brutal; I was required to take 19 hours of upper level courses. These courses were difficult science courses, physics, calculus 3, some computer programming classes, and add in my engineering courses. I started class at 8 A.M. and got out of my labs around 3-5, depending on the day, then I went to work where I had to stay at the store till 11 P.M. then go home cook do homework and do it all again.

I made it to being a Georgia Tech student in the GTREP completed one semester under that and dropped from engineering. The more classes I took the more I hated it and just never felt like it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I had no clue what I wanted to do, I had spent all these years fighting tooth and nail to graduate as an engineer and that was now mute. With much thinking I settled on a History degree with physics Minor, this was due to McMullen and Briggs, two great professors.

During my time at Georgia Southern as an engineering student I met someone named Kristi Harnish. We don’t speak anymore, for whatever reason, but she introduced me to the game world of warcraft. Just another online computer game for many people, for me it turned out to be much more. I played the game, though rarely with her mostly with my other friend Matt. I met countless other people through the game who are now my friends. These friends I met through an online game due to someone I met before one of my computer programming classes helped me get a job out in Texas after graduating.

It is amazing what strange path our lives can take sometimes. How someone new to us can make such a major impact on our lives. Who would have thought that someone I met through an online game would have helped me get a great job? Who would have thought that someone I never knew until she was over at a mutual friend’s home because she had no place to live would have turned out to be the best influence on my life.

Well after much pressure I have decided to start working on a book concerning my experiences in retail. I have started collecting the short stories for the book. I am unsure about what direction to take it, in many of my posts I use very foul language, the language used during these events, yet I know many people do not care for it and publicists may not like it either. I will have to get an answer about that and figure out if I desire to make this a collection of short stories or a novel of sorts.

Well as my time in college gaining my bachelor degree comes to an end I have a lot of choices to make. I am ready to not be broke and get back into the job market again. I have a few offers out in Texas thanks to some friends who have helped me out, yet I can’t help but feel torn. I took the GRE last summer because I was considering Grad school; I did very well on it scoring 1580 out of 1600. Well I applied to several universities I was interested in for their graduate programs. I have heard back from two of these schools I applied to; Auburn and Oklahoma University. While I didn’t hear from the University of Indiana these two are very good universities with strong History of Science programs. Oklahoma accepted me and waived my out of state fees but due to my GPA not being competitive at 3.42 I won’t get a teaching assistant; Auburn on the other hand waived out of state fees offered me an adjunct teaching position with a stipend of $700 per month.

That makes going to grad school affordable in many ways. So I’m torn between starting a career and paying bills off from my wreck and college expenses that have built up; or going to grad school and earning my PHD. I eventually will go back to college to get my PHD, I’m just tired of being broke and having to manage my money to the very last penny to make sure I can eat and pay my bills. I’ve made my decision to go to Texas and work, I will regret my decision till I do complete my degree to the level I desire. I’ve just reached the point in life where I want to settle down some and start looking at maybe having a family in the future. It is just very difficult to postpone my dreams.

How does one mistake peanut oil for pine sol? Well somehow it does happen. My idiot roommate did this. He decided he wanted to clean the kitchen floor, never mind the mess he made on the counter trying to make tea. He runs water in the sink mixes in the peanut oil, oh wait oil and water don’t mix so he didn’t notice this, and failed to notice the fact there are no suds or bubbles coming up. He proceeds ot mop the floor, after finishing he drains the sink and starts walking back to his room when he slips and falls busting his ass. I hear a scream that sounds as if someone is being stabbed to death. I come running in and see him floundering around like a fish out of water, a very large fat ass fish. After a few minutes I notice what he has done and start laughing. He drives to the emergency room because he thinks he broke his hip, never mind he walked to his car.

From there introduction the works of Aristotle were loved and hated by the intellectuals of the middle ages. This love and hate resulted many conflicts, specifically at the University of Paris, there were a series of condemnations that restricted what could be taught and believed. These condemnations had little effect as there was a lack of a strong punishment until the condemnation of 1277 which threatened excommunication to anyone who held, spoke, or even endorsed beliefs contrary to anything listed in it. this led to great change as it forced intellectuals of the day to look for other answers other than referring back to Aristotle.

The first and one of the largest of the conflicts with the renewed interest in ancient learning came from Aristotle’s claim that the world was not created that it was eternal. In his works On the Heavens Aristotle claims “the world as a whole was not generated and cannot be destroyed, as some allege, but is unique and eternal, having no beginning or end of its whole life.”1 This left no room at all for the creation of the world as taught by the church and is recorded in genesis. Some during this time tried to rationalize this and make it fit the religious views of the church at this time. Boethius of Dacia, in his treatise On the Eternity of the World, argues that no one could show how the first motion ever happened, so the eternity of the world is able to be determined. In 1272 the teaching masters at the University of Paris were required to take an oath “We decree further and ordain that, if anyone shall have disputed at Paris any question which seems to touch both faith and philosophy, if he shall have determined it contrary to the faith, henceforth he shall forever be deprived of our society as a heretic, unless he shall have been at pains humbly and devoutly to revoke his error and his heresy, within three days after our warning, in full congregation or elsewhere where it shall seem to us expedient.”2 According to Edward Grant Boethius claims there is no conflict between Christian faith and philosophy so to him he is not breaking this oath. So not only do we see the church trying to keep this from becoming an issue we see faculty skirting this issue by saying there can be two truths one in philosophy and one in Christian faith. With this belief that there can be two truths allows the teaching masters to fully teach everything with little worry as they are still solving things in favor of the Church. Even Thomas Aquinas held a similar view as he said that the world had a beginning is an object of faith, but could not be demonstrated. With several prominent people lending support to this view that the world could be eternal it could undermine the authority of the scriptures.

With the continued rise in popularity of Aristotle and the fact that at least some of the teaching masters at the University of Paris were willing to accept that Aristotle even if it seemed to undermine the belief of the Church resulted in a sweeping condemnation in 1277. Unlike in the past this condemnation stuck due to if you held beliefs contrary you were excommunicated from there Church. As we have seen the Bishop of Paris was uneasy with the limitations, that Aristotle places, on God’s power. There were many that dealt with the limitations on God’s power some examples of these are article 34. “That the first cause could not make several worlds.” Article 48 “that God cannot be the cause of a new act, nor can he produce something anew.” And article 9 “That there was no first man, nor will there be a last; on the contrary, there always was and always will be generation of man from man.” With Aristotle’s ideas being denounced as wrong thinkers of the time were now free to speculate on things previously thought wrong. We see now the possibility for a true vacuum to exist in nature. Aristotle argues that nature abhors a vacuum, so therefore we have to assume that the world existed with god since to create something there has to be a void in the place it will take. The condemnation now states that Aristotle was wrong in many areas and things he said could not happen now can. This opened a whole new world to thinkers at the University of Paris and elsewhere. We now see the ability of God to create new worlds and he could make the Heavens(planets) move anyway he choses. This did not result in a revolution as in a science revolution but it laid the ground work for it. We now have the great thinkers of the time thinking outside the box and not simply looking to encyclopedia’s of knowledge from the past for them. We see the idea of infinity is now being accepted after Nicholas of Cusa puts his weight behind it, this and many other ideas and creations help form the scientific revolution later. But this stark break forced on the faculty and scientists of this time forced them to look for new answers to questions and also question the old answers.

I mentioned the doctrine of double truths earlier as used by Boethiusof Dacia was denounced in article 90 “that a natural philosopher ought to deny absolutely the newness of the world because he depends on natural causes and natural reasons. The faithful, however, can deny the eternity of the world because they depend on supernatural causes.” Scientists were not required to link their thought with their religion, so now science had to have purpose; why would God create something if it was useless? So not only do we see a break from the older ways of thinking and looking back to the ancient thinkers for answers we now see a tying together science and religion in the same thought that both had to agree with each other and neither could be in direct conflict.
